Harry Potter Time

Today I filled out a Harry Potter Time work sheet. The work sheet was about the times of the trains in Harry Potter, I loved this work because I love Harry Potter. You got given 4 questions and you had to work out how long Harry would be on the train for. It was hard working out the time because i'm not really familiar with train times but it was easy saying the name because I already now all of them from
the movie. Do you watch Harry Potter

Dream Destination

Today we have been learning about people posting pictures of them on the internet and how some are not true so today we learnt how people did it. First we took a picture of our self's on the Ipad and then went to Remove .BG to remove the background and then we went to unsplash.com to download a cool looking picture. Then we were done. It was hard figuring out all of the links but easy picking a cool background. Have you made a fake photo before?

Hangi

On the 21 of November we cooked up a hangi. A hangi is what the Maori people used to cook their food, it was just like a Maori Oven. First we had to dig the hole which took about 3 hours. Then we had to make sure both of the sides of the hole could fit 2 trays and  have no loose dirt in it. Next we put the 2 cages in and then came the part, we got to scrunch up the news paper and throw it in. It was super fun doing it because normal you would
get told off for throwing paper balls. once we did that we had to place some iron into the pit and then throw in sticks after that we put tart over it and covered it we had to make sure we kept all of the steam inside the tart with the food to make sure the steam cooked it. It was hard using the shovel in the Hangi because it was heavy and i'm pretty weak. But it was easy putting in the food. Have you ever had a Hangi?

Kenning's

Today in homeroom time I learnt what a Kenning is. A kenning is just like a Poem but it describes something. To make a Kenning you need a topic, about 3 sentences to describe it and good clues, for example... You pick a dog so you could say I am a good sniffer, I am a messy eater, I am a fast runner. You can make it anything as long as it ends with er at the end and it makes sense with you Topic. I made my own Kenning but I am going to let you guess what it is, Here are the clues...

I am a magic maker

I am a robe wearer

I am a beard shaver

Time For Public Transport

Today we learnt about times for public transport. Things like when the vehicles start and when to get off the vehicle. We did our math focusing on the time and places of a London Train. The stations were called Leatherhead, Epsom, Wimbledon, Clapham Junction and Waterloo, Which are pretty funny names. We also got told the times. First we had to recreate the time table for when the train start and stop. And we got 3 questions for all of the times of the trains, For example it would ask you how long does it take to get from Leatherhead to Epsom Leatherhead's time is 7:10 and Epsom's time is 7:15 so the answer would be 5 minutes. It was hard learning about the times for the trains because I have never been on one in my life but it was easy once I got the hang of it. Have you ever been on a train before?

Texture

Today I finished making a piece of art made from texture. Texture is one of the 7 elements of art. Texture gives you the ability to make it look like your drawing is coming out of the paper. First we had to draw different types of textures which were really hard because I did not know any textures. After that we got a piece of  paper we had to write the first letter of our name on it and make tons of textures on the rest of the paper. It was really hard finding out new textures but really easy to draw them once I new what they looked like. Have you ever done this in art class? If you did then why don't you tell me how it went?

Learning How To Surf

On the 8th of November we learnt how to surf. First we did the roll and got onto the bus to head for  sum nu beach. Once we got taught how to use a surf board and then we got taught what we had to do. Learn how to stand up, how to be safe and of course how to know a good wave. Miss McG's class was first so that was me they gave us a board and strapped it on our ankle so it would not float away. At first I was scared because I know the ocean is a very dangerous place but after a while I was way more confident and I could stand up onto my board. It was hard holding my board because I am really small so it was hard using my little tiny arms but easy surfing. I really like surfing and I definitely
want to do it again some time. Have you ever been surfing before.

How to say (where is - kei hea) in Maori

Today in Te Reo Maori we learnt how to say where is but in Te Reo Maori it is kei hea, where is it and where and where are in Te Reo Maori. It was hard because I do not now how to speak Maori an all so I was very confused but it was pretty easy finding out what I had to do. If your Maori sentence has an a in it the it means is. If your sentence has a te it means the. And if it has a nga in it, it means are, it also  means multiple. My buddy was Tyler and you can check his blog for his post about this HERE. This was my Te Reo Maori learning this week I hope you learned something from it.

Decimats

Today in math we learnt what decimats are. Decimats are boxes to help you sort out fractions like 1/3 of 3 and 1/2 of 6, here is what we did!  First Mrs Woolley gave us a decimat which looks like a rectangle box, then we told us to make it into 1/2 so we put a line through the box. Next she told us to make it into 1/4 so we put a line through the box but across the rectangle. After that she told us to cut the box into eight so we did. Last of all she told us to shade in one of the eighths and then she asked " What's the fraction?" We all said 1/8 it was hard keeping up with all of the steps but easy to use the decimat. How interesting!
