Christmas Would You Rather

Today the Teacher asked us a few would you rather questions related to Christmas. Some questions were really hard but I think I made some good persuasive resins. some questions were hard but some were easy but there were also some that I wasn't quiet sure about. Now i'm gonna ask you 2 would you rather questions. Would you rather... Live in a ginger bread house or ride the polar express I would rather ride the polar express because I would get to meet Santa in the north pole but if I had to live in a ginger bread house then ant would dismantle it or I would eat it and have no house. now for the next one would you rather be one of Santa's elf's or be one of Santa reindeer I would be one of Santa's elf's because I would get to make toys and test them out. That is all what would you pick for those would you rather's.

Summer Learning Journey Prep 1

Today Emma from the summer learning journey came back and show us all these sites related to the summer learning journey. After a while she told us to pick a country out of Canada, Mexico, England, Germany, Japan, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and Australia we picked Japan. When you clicked on one it had a bunch of facts about Japan like the capital city of japan is Tokyo and the population of the capital city is 127.1 million and the weather in Tokyo is normally cold.

Flying Cars

Today I was doing summer learning journey practice questions and this was the first one that I saw. It was easy picking the car but hard finding a good question this is what the question says. Imagine that you just got your licence and you parents gave you three options, A red car, a black truck or a white flying car what would you choose. I would choose the flying car because if I can fly I don,t have to wait for traffic I can just fly to school. What would you choose?

Today I finished a comic called teeth. In literacy me and my class watched a funny short film named TEETH. After we watched the short film we got told we could make a play a story or a comic about it but I chose comic. It was easy make the thought and speech bubbles but hard making the characters. Summer Learning Journey 2018-2019 Prize

Yesterday a girl name Emma came to South Hornby School told us about the summer learning journey. This years theme is the world around us the lessons are going to be based on sea, air, land and sustainability. Its good to do the summer learning journey because if you don,t then you move down but if you do join the summer learning journey then you stay where you are and once you get back to school you can pick up from where you left it. If I won the summer learning journey then I would like a packet of Pokemon cards, a minecraft hoodie and a 15 dollar Nintendo E shop gift card.

Kenning Poems

In writing with Mrs McG we learnt about kenning poems. They are an old Nordic style poem. They have 8 lines and always has a noun and a word ending in "er". Our example was a spider. Our first sentence was a insect eater. I found it hard making 8 lines 3 times but I found it easy thinking of all the animals and creatures. These are my kenning poems.

For this week and before we have been learning about health and personnel high jean. Today I finished an animation teaching 5-7 year old's you to brush there teeth in heath and personal. It was hard making it so little kids could understand but it was easy making the animation because i'm a good animator. Life Education with Harold

This week we have done Life Ed with Harold the giraffe. So far in life ed with Harold Harold and a lady named Amanda have been talking to us about how everyone is different and we've been saying why its good to be different. It was easy thinking about why its good to be different but its hard trying to get to the caravan when its raining because we are not allowed to wear shoes inside. For the past 2 weeks I have been making a animation that tells kids how to make a good quality blog comment. I make lots of animations because its so fun. It was hard making the animation but easy remembering what we need for a comment and what I was going to do. I enjoyed making the animation because I get to make my own stuff. For the hole term we have been learning how to persist and i'm pretty good at it. You could be in the pit in school, at home or even when your playing a video game. It is totally normal for you to be in the pit But there is always a way out.

In Science we have been learning about chemical reactions but sadly today is the last day for science. We saw tons of chemical reactions and they were amazing. I have learnt that baking soda and white vinegar mixed together makes a product. Here is some more stuff I learnt.

Weather water cycle

This term we have been learning about the water cycle. We have learnt that the water cycle has many stages. The four stages are evaporation, condensation, precipitation and run off. evaporation is the steam of the hot water turning into vapor. condensation is the vapor making clouds. precipitation is the clouds making the water into rain and the run off is the water making lakes and rivers.
The water cycle is important because without water we cant survive. And that is what I know about the water cycle.

Science-Change cork popping

Today for science we made bottle of chemicals flow up and make a cork pop up into the air.
First we filled an empty bottle with a 3rd of white vinegar in it. Then we poured 2 teaspoons of baking soda and quickly put on a cork and then the cork popped up into the air. The cork popped up into the air by the liquid flowing up and the weakest part of the bottle was where the cork was. So the Reactants were white vinegar and  baking soda. The product was a gas. and the chemical reaction was that the cork popped out. Just was I expected to happen.

For the last week we have been creating a piece of calendar art we used geometric abstraction. At first we practiced shapes on a piece of scrap paper. After that we had a piece of paper where we would put the shapes of what we would cut. then we cut and stuck the shapes on the black piece of paper. Mine was AMAZING. check it out.

What I know about novels

For the last six weeks we have been reading about a novel called all because of Walter.
It is illustrated by Mary dahl winton and written by carol kruegur.
At the start I was quiet but mow I'm starting to ask questions
For the last six weeks I have learnt that lots of  novels are really emotional.
Novels are chapter books and most of them make you not want to stop reading and you just cant put the book down. Overall I have learnt that novels can be really emotional. I suggest you read some.

Once upon a time underground there was a skeleton called Sans.

He loved battling all of the other sorts of creatures but he hated zombies.

But One day He found quite an unusual monster.

At first he thought It was a flower.

So he drew out his bone sword. Sans tried to slash the monster but he missed.

How Scissors work

You use scissors when you want to cut something. Scissors can cut paper and cardboard by the blades. If you want to learn how to use scissors this is how. Put your thumb in the small handle and you put pointing                                                              finger and middle finger in the other. Then stretch your fingers to open them and push them together to close them. It can stretch and be pushed back together all because of the bolt the bolt allows you to stretch them and push them together. After that grab any piece of paper/cardboard and try to cut through the piece of paper/cardboard. They can cut through paper/cardboard because they a real sharp.                And that is how scissors work.

My goal for reading this term

My reading goal this term is to read more chapter books because all the other small books I can read them super fast. This term i'm going to work on looking at the punctuation because sometimes I don't and that makes it not make sens.

What I know about questioning

Now for the next few weeks we are working on asking questions when we are reading novels because we need to look deeper at characters to see how they develop and impact the story. we will be asking how the social and cultural background of the author affected the character and how the character supported the author theme or message. The Teacher said we also have to put on what we should be questing. so this is what I know. Good readers question themselves, the ask questions before the read and while they are reading, They ask themselves at the title and they find the answer.

last day of learning about day of the dead

Today was the last day of learning about day of the dead. It was challenging understanding all the Spanish words but it was easy finding out information. I knew a lot about it by going on tons of websites. My goal was to get my points into the second Coulomb and I achieved it .Over all I have learnt that day of the dead is a time to honer loved ones that have passed away.

What I have learnt in myths and legends

Today the teacher told us to make a post about What we learn in myths and legends. It was challenging finding out all the information but easy Finding out what good they have done. When we had a Hangi

Last Friday on the 29th of June we had a Hangi at our school. This is what happened. So over night Mator Willie dug the pit and during the morning each kid had the privilege to put a peace of wood or iron.then we lit it on fire for 3 hours. before we left it we put a blue cover over the hangi. Then we put  the dirt from the huge pile over the cover because its not the fire that cooks the food ts the smoke.
3 hours later we had a nice hot passel of Hangi. Once we were done we finished the day with a Haka.

Depression

Starting to learn about the day of the dead

Today we have finished the Chinese new year and now i'm on day of the dead. The Teacher told us to make a blog post about the day of the dead. But I only know one thing.And that is that on the day of the dead you think about your loved ones the have passed away and that is all I know so far. Phonics Prefixes

 For Phonics I have been learning about Prefixes. At first it was pretty easy finding the Prefixes in the word find.But once I found out we had to say what it is and post it on our blog I it got a little bit more tricky. It was easy knowing what a prefix was but hard explaining it. It was real cool how the teacher made a word find where we had to find words with a Prefix in it. here is some example of what a Prefix is.

What I know about Chinese new year

For about 2 weeks we have been learning about Chinese new year I took notes about what I learnt I learnt a lot. check out my notes. we also had to draw our own dragons.

Today we learnt about Chinese new year year of the dog. I also learnt some things they do in the year of the dog. They do traditional dances, sing and their family's gather up for a special dinner. You may hear music,singing and lots of screaming. You may see dancers,tents and awesome looking lanterns.

This week for literacy we are learning about Chinese new year I don,t know much because i'm English So hopefully I learn something.

turning in work for credits

Today me and my class showed the teacher our matariki work and we got credits credits are like points one you fill up your bar you get a prize. It was hard keeping all my work in the same spot it was easy doing the posts. It was interesting how we got points by turning in all of the matariki work by doing mine I got 3 credits.

what I know about Matariki

Today the teacher asked us to make a blog post about what we know about matariki.
So this is what I know about Matariki. Matariki is the Maori name for a star cluster this is the story I know. The sun was moving around the world so Maui trapped the sun in a  rope and stopped him from moving so everyone got light and felt warm each year the suns six daughters will come and make the day last longer. I don't know if i got it right I probably didn't but that's all I can remember. if you know more you can tell me in the comments.

Today the teachers told us to make a pepeha, It was easy making a video but it was hard getting  it on this post. I like how a pepeha tells people about yourself in Maori .a pepeha is something what tells people about yourself in Maori this is mine. Check out my video.

Names and Numbers

 Today in math the teacher told us to do a sheet it was called names and numbers. it was tricky finding out how it works but we got it. we had to do our names and 5 other names it was easy thinking of names. It was a fun activity.

last day of coding

Today was the last day of coding, it was real hard to make the game because of all the numbers but it was fun trying out everything. my game is not finished because it is really complected. this is what my game looks likethe name of the game is sustain game.

today the teacher sent us to do a math equation, it was 1000-396. It was quite easy. to solve it I took away 300 from 1000 so I was left with seven hundred then I took away 96 and I had 704 left so the answer is 704

Ban the bag

Here is some writing showing why plastic bags are bad for the earth.

Animals are eating plastic bags thinking its food and now they are are dying.

I’m fine with bags, it’s just can't they make bags that are not poison and that animals can breathe through.
I mean at least they could stay alive.

Plastic bags are made of petroleum. Petroleum makes petrol and petrol is poison.
Do you know one plastic bag can power a car and make it go 115m.
Petroleum is poison and that means plastic is poison

It is also killing us because we eat fish and we eat food from plastic bags,
I strongly believe that since our food touches plastic bags that means it affecting us humans to.
and plastic bags are poison. So I think it’s killing us, just slowly.

Do you know that every minute about 1 million plastic objects go to sea.
And it takes like 4 million year’s for plastic to break.
I'm too scared to even think about what it will look like in 2019.

So stop using plastic bags.

Today we did coding we were learning to make a game based on sustainability Today we learnt to add sprites sprites are characters. We resized the sprites we learnt how to save our work. I'm making a game called be sustainable fox. If you want a try go on to scratch.

This week for reading we have be reading stories based on kite's. because kite's represent our school. The teacher said my group got to make our own kite's and blog it. I found It hard using the controls for making the kite. It was hard to keep my mouse trait for making lines. this is what my kite looks like.I am really proud of my kite.

Today we made kites. First we drew Maori deigns on some paper. Next we got some glad wrap. And drew over the patterns With vivid marker. It was hard because if made a mistake I could not change it back. After that we made tails for the kites I put feathers on mine. And then finally It got stuck up on the wall.This is my kite!
